About

Alberto stands in a darkened workshop space, wearing a blue hoodie over a collared shirt, holding up two stegosaurus scales at shoulder height — one in each hand — and looking directly at the camera with a composed expression.

I am a sound artist and composer specialised in contemporary dance performances and I am part of several works that tour internationally. My main practice is in experimental soundscapes and compositions as well as sound dramaturgy and artistic support for creatives using sound within their practices. I also work both as a lighting designer and technician.

My practice investigates how sound affects our perception of a given reality and the ways that people categorise their sonic environment. I am also interested in how listening spaces are constructed and the possible uses of these spaces. I constantly test and further these investigations through creating new experiences for a variety of audiences.

Having worked mainly with dance for some years, I started exploring new contexts for my practice focusing on sound installation, interactivity and generative art. I am mostly interested in how we can use technology to bring attention to listening. I use technology to create immersive sonic experiences where the technology becomes intuitive and invisible to simplify the audience experience and allow them to focus on their relationship to sound.

My work regularly interrogates the listener's comfort zone; for me, every composition invites an audience into a journey, a game, a new place to explore and enjoy.
